Dr. Shah is a board-certified allergist, who founded NY Food Allergy & Wellness to help families with food allergies. He has been awarded a dual fellowship by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and by the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. His extensive training as an allergist and asthma specialist and his experience in managing adults and children of all ages has earned him a “he can help ” reputation among other allergists, physicians and medical professionals.

He has been recognized with various awards including the America’s Top Physicians’ Award, the Patients’ Choice Award and the Most Compassionate Physicians’ Award. He co-founded GFI (Global Food Initiative) to help food allergy families who do not live locally to have access to the highest level of food allergy care through technology. His patient base is expanding beyond New York to many states and multiple countries.

His medical career began in India, followed by an internship, a residency, and fellowships at various institutions, including the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University; Albert Einstein College of Medicine; Schneider Children’s Hospital; Harlem Hospital; and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. His commitment to cutting edge knowledge is evidenced by his ongoing participation in educational activities.

Dr. Shah founded the Center for Asthma & Allergy in the year 2000 with a personal mission of “touching as many lives positively, in as many ways possible – everyday.” After more than 20 years as an allergist and asthma specialist at the Center for Asthma & Allergy, his patient base has grown from the local community to national and international patients.

More than 80% of the new patients last year were referred by existing patients and majority of them live outside of the Center’s zip code. In 2015, he opened New York Food Allergy & Wellness on Long Island, making it the first OIT Center in New York. In 2023, we opened our premier location at Park Sixty in New York City

Dr. Shah’s work and articles as an allergist have been published in peer reviewed professional journals, local newspapers, and weekly columns. He accepts invitations for speaking engagements at educational seminars and meetings. He is also an author and a publisher of a variety of educational materials including audios, videos and a series of books including the “Amazing Allergist’s Awesome Book Series for children. He truly enjoys “making a difference.”

Dr. Shah has a profound understanding of food allergies and explains the nuances of test results and treatment options in a simple and easy to understand manner. He is clearly devoted to his practice and exudes compassion and empathy for children that have food allergies. I would recommend any parent that has a child with food allergies to consult with Dr. Shah. Dr. Shah has quite literally changed my son’s life for the better in every way possible. My son was allergic to peanuts, cashews and pistachios, and within a year of starting OIT had become completely desensitized to all of them. He was able to eat freely for the first time and all of his fears surrounding food and eating had disappeared. The entire staff was so warm and supportive throughout the process and made everything feel seamless. Dr. Shah is quite literally the nicest human and most thorough doctor when it comes to children’s allergies. Dr. Shah and his amazing staff has cured my daughter of her sesame allergy as well as all other tree nuts. This has been a liberating experience for my daughter and our family.
